So I'm swithching to a metal halide fixture that has 2x150w halides, 4 T5's, & LEd's....I'm wondering if I should do 14k halides or 20K halides...just wondering what everyone out there is using.....

If I had to do it - 14k with "light" blue actinics. 420nm or something like a "cool blue" T5.

20k with 10k T5's is also popular.

I really hated my 20k at first for the extreme blue color. I put the old Reeflux 12k in the hood this weekend and about puked from the pink/red that I could now see. I don't think I'll ever turn back from 20k. Also, I have no actinic supp.

My choices are below for 20k in no particular order:

XM
Radium

I'm curious as well. I'll only be running MHs w/o supplemental PC/T-5.

I was thinking about going with a 14K-15K and split the difference.

Well, if you get MH/PC, go with a crisp white 10-12k MH bulb, since the PC actinic blue's are pretty "blue" IMO.

If you go with MH/T5 - I personally like the "cool blue" aka 13-14k bulbs. And the combo I posted above looks quite pleasing to my eye.

Sorry if I was unclear...I will be running MH only and was wondering if 14K-15K was good for growth AND color...Thanks

Yes. Bulbs differ in color and PAR.

If I were you, and that's the color your most interested in, find a few tanks lite by that spectrum bulb to get an idea how the color will look in person.

Just completed my canopy build with 2x 150 HQI DE w/pheonix 14k bulbs (blue, but not too blue). Wanted to see the outcome before deciding to install T5 actinic. I'm so satisfied with intensity and color, I'm not adding the actinics at the time. All the colors absolutely pop.
