I'm really glad I came across this thread & revived it... I knew from my experience that the hammer could sting me, but if not for this thread, I probably wouldn't have known my hippo could sting me until he already had. Any other fish besides the foxface & hippo that I should be aware of???
Rule #1 - If there's an open wound and your going in, no glove no love. Sorry fish tank, maybe next time?

This rule also relates to many other life situations
Lmao! Yes a good rule to live by...
Reminds me of the time I got zoa juice in my eye and started to go blind...
Seriously... Did you really get zoa juice in your eye & it made you go blind?

Hmmm, this thread had died a year and a half ago and gets revived with a one-liner. I guess that's one way to get your post count up

Hmmm...Well I revived it so I guess that was directed toward me insinuating that this is all about post counts for me? If you had read my entire first post on this thread (which was much more than a one liner) you would see that I found this thread while google searching "hammer coral stung me" because it had just happened to me & I didn't know it was possible before... I have enjoyed reading & participating in this thread ever since I first started reading it & I'm wondering who is really trying to get your post count up since your post had nothing to do with this thread at all, but instead was just making a dig at someone who actually was participating in the thread topic... Way to welcome someone to Reef Central!

Bullet. I am glad you defended yourself. I actually thought the same thing. I didn't think you had a one line opening either. Some folks actually like to get on here and say mean things to others.

Like I said. Good for you! Welcome to reef central. I hope that You Will find more people that like to help and converse rather than the other option.

Yeah, I'm usually pretty careful washing up but must had some on my hands and rubbed my eyes. My vision started getting hazy to where I felt like I had cotton gauze over my eyes. My wife rushed me to the eye doctor and they gave me antibiotic that cleared up within 24 hours.

Glad I found this thread. I've cleared my tank of all zoas, palys, and annenomies but still getting bit up really bad. I do have a lot of euphyllia though and now I'm pretty sure they are doing it. I'll do a better job of wearing gloves and keep clear of my euphyllia best I can and see if that fixes the problem.

I was rearranging my tank yesterday and hammer coral stung me on my thumb that has a open wound.I ran hot water for good 15 mins and the pain stop but, pain started again last night and this morning, my thumb has swelled up and looks infected.

It's till throbbing as I type this....has anyone experienced this and have any suggestions?

Went to the doctor this morning and was prescribed minocycline 100mg & omnicef 300mg.
You need to get that looked at right away!!! like now. Don't wait until it's too late. Then again, 6 years later is probably too late
