Harem and trio question wrasse and angelfish

I have a 435 gallon display and i have few fish that i am trying to harem or a trio

First 5 submale / large female flame wrasse almost all are 3.5-3.75" can they get along long term?

Next 3.5" bandit, 4" and 5" bandit
The 4" and 5" are getting along great should i try to make them a trio or let it be? Currently the 3.5" bandit is in the acclimation box should i try to put the mean 4" bandit on its place and switch it because it trying to intimate the smaller bandit or should i set up a 29 gallons holding tank for it. Since my larger qt have been compromised by a fluke infected 5" new bandit. Fyi both of the bandit was subs from previous order on separate occasions.

The flames probably can, but expect there to be more than one male and regular/persistent sparring/chasing going on.

There is a little aggression between them no chasing so 10x better than what i was expecting hopefully it continues

Still dont know what will i do with the bandit

For what it's worth, I've always had problems with groups of three with centropyge angels. I've done much better with 4+. With 3, the bigger female always seemed to pick on the smaller one; sometimes rather aggressively.

I've done some research on Flame Wrasses. The males usually live with a large harem and protect it violently against other males. In other words, the males are super territorial against other flame males. Despite you large tank size you may not luck out and end up with constant chasing and eventually death IF in fact you have males in transition stage.
However, there is a person who witnessed reverse transition from a male back to female. Here is his account: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2011/11/fish
I am very skeptical but it's possible.

Trying to put together Angels at that size can be very challenging. If the two are getting along well together and the one is already showing attitude towards the third one in acclimation I doubt it will be well received in the tank. (no happy ending)

Switching which fish is in the acclimation box will give the new small one a chance to find hiding spots in your tank, but probably won't change the attitude of the mean one.

And once you release it the aggression will kick in pretty quickly.


I have less experience with the wrasses...


Come to the Frag Swap tomorrow and you can leave the baby bandit in my outdoor frag tank and let him grow up till he can hold his own :)

I agree in keeping the two bandits that are already getting along together and not introducing the third smaller one.

I have tried setting up different combinations of flame wrasses in the hopes of getting fertile eggs. I do get eggs for a little while and then always end up with all males. They are still nice to have though in that the males are beautiful and they all have gotten along well together.
 
Same thing with flame and red tail/psych head wrasses. All eventually turn male. I can always tell which red tail is about to turn as the male starts harassing the heck out her.

You mean this fish? Do you have it? Heard it's difficult to keep. Thus have passed on it a few times.

Hey Lawrence,

My experience with a trio of Bandits has been wonderful.
The 2 larger were about 3-3.50 inches when I added the 3rd. The 2 larger Bandits had been together over a year.
The 3rd Bandit was approx. 1 inch when she was added to dt.
I had the 2 larger in the qt when I received the baby, who was .50 of an inch. The baby was kept in an iso box during that period. The larger Bandits were curious about the baby and did not show any signs of aggression. They were in the 250 qt. I did not release the baby into the qt with the adults as I wanted her close to make target feeding her as stress less as possible.
When the baby was released into the dt there were never any headaches. The 3 are doing great and have grown considerably.
I have the 2 babies I got in June in my buddies tank. My intention was to add them to dt one day, but my friend's wife said she is not going to give them back, lol...
I may get a couple babies in June.

After weighing all the risk and reward I think a pair is enough since it will leave one extra fish to my list .

The 3.5" is in the main tank the 4" is now on the acclimation box until i sold the 3.5". It will be a while till the put fish on qt again
