Has anyone kept Ghost Pipefishes

I am wondering if anyone here has had any luck keeping Solenostomus paradoxus? I originally thought they were protected by CITIES, but a local LFS has them in stock. Great colors and fascinating to watch. Having done some readings, they say they're hard to keep. In one of my tanks, I have so many shrimp and copepods, it is hard to see through the glass sometimes. Our local LFS has a consistant supply of live rotifers, copepods, and mysis.

What do you guys think?

No personal experience but I have yet to hear of anyone successfully keeping them in aquaria for any length of time. I do know of several who have tried.

Hi,

I think, Ghost Pipes are not a good choice for a hobby aquarist, but even if they are very hard to keep, it is not impossible.

I don't have personal experiences with Ghost Pipes, but I know one aquarist at our german forum, who keeps the S. paradoxus successfully.

He feeds live Mysis and they need tons of it.

The succeed seems to depend mainly on their condition, when they arrive and presumably most of them die before their arrival at the lfs or your aquarium.

Are those at your lfs doing fine?

What size is your tank and which fish are you going to keep with the Ghosts?

Think they need a very calm environment...
