Has anyone seen the Colorado Sunburst bta at Aquatic Collection?

Just wow! I visited AC a few months ago and saw one of the most beautiful bta's I've ever seen. The Colorado Sunburst at AC was huge and extremely colorful. Does anyone know if it's still in their show tank?

I don't think he's selling it, which means you'd have to offer more than you would normally pay for one, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Honestly someone should just propagate the hell out of them in the bay area and make a load of money. Anchovie, wait, slice, shrimp, wait, slice, smelt, wait, slice.

But the lack of sunburst nems around here probably means they don't grow as fast? or are people too chicken to cut their 400$ nem in half? :lolspin:
 
Yeah sounds about right that it's not for sale lol.

Funny thing is I had 3 Colorado's, lemon drop and a flame tip in my 45g and got rid of them all a few years ago when I went sps dominant , started up my kids 40g and the 3x rainbows just aren't doing it for me lol. There's gotta be locals with them, I remember when there were quite a few people around me with them and the going rate was between $100 - 200 depending on size. Now some people are asking $400 for a 2" cut clone =(.

Colorado's were at most $250 (don't think I paid over $150 for one ever) when I was into them, shoot I remember getting an 18" flame tip( sunrise I believe they were called then) for about $80 from a local wholesaler long before that and sold it for $100 and felt like I was getting over and guilty. Nowadays the price is kinda outrageous..

I've got some sps for trade + cash to anybody hoarding some locally that's looking to get rid of one or a cooler than my rainbow bta's like acid rain, flame tip dolphin pet village, pink tip gbta etc. On that rare chance shoot me a Pm. .

I'm sure many people have thought that these would be great money-makers (this applies to Colorados, lemondrops, flametips, etc.). I think there's an obvious reason that there aren't many around, and it's not because people are hoarding them -- the slice and dice simply doesn't work and they don't split naturally on their own as quickly as other BTAs.

IME they don't hold up well to force propagation at all. I know many people believe that all BTAs are the same, and the colors are simply variants of the same species, but I believe that some E. quadicolor are more forgiving when it comes to cutting them. On two separate occasions I had two flametips and lemondrops and both times, one side of the split ended up dying, and I had to carefully QT the other halves.

I've read that some anemones of the same species are solitary while others are colonial. I believe this to be the case with both E. quadricolor and H. magnifica, which can possibly explain why some frag easier than others.
 
After seeing the Sunburst at AC a few months ago, I just had to add one to my tank. I finally got that chance yesterday!
