Hawaiian long fin anthias

They are deep water and very difficult to decompress. however if there is a trio that has been acclimated for a while i would def go for it !

Not what I wanted to hear lol. I will look into thier condition and shipping and the whole nine. From the previous thread I read they are poor shippers. Will talk with the lfs again.

I had a harem of pseudoan. haw. They are beautiful and super hard to get. The fish were doing great eating mysis and pellet. One day after about 3 weeks I found the male dead in QT. No signs or symptoms of disease. The fish looked very good. It was very disheartening as everything was going so well. I managed to complete QT and put a trio of females into my DT. The females lasted a couple of months then died off one by one. Based on my experience they are super hard to keep fish.

Probably would not go fort hem again. Not worth the expense IMO.

Uncommon fish and a bit difficult to collect at depth, but they are very beautiful. We've figured out how to successfully decompress them - even from 400' where they shoal by the thousands. As far as long term care, I'm not too sure as most of them end up in Japan or Hong Kong where we don't hear from the end consumer.

Are tank runs around 73-75. Half of our water volume is in the basement and I run 3 300w heaters for 400g of water. We have leds so no heat from them.

We went to the store yesterday and picked up the pair. We saw them and pretty much were sold on the spot. They have been at the store a month and have been fed mysis twice a day and they attack the food. They are much bigger than the normal ventralis which is a plus. There is some aggression from our bigger borb, but so far so good. I will get some pics up when they are settled in. I am feeding Rods right now and will probably pick up some pe mysis to mix in to make sure they are getting enough. I am throwing some pellets in as well, but those are being ignored.

They are nice looking fish, I was debating on getting them myself. I was there this weekend and Will fed them and they went to town. Good luck with the pair.

Thank you. It was between them and the new anthias that don't have a scientific name yet that quality brought in. We liked the long fins better, they are out and about and seems the borb has decided not to be a huge jerk, just a little jerk.

Mike, every time I've brought in ventralis, the males prove to be difficult shippers if not bagged heavy. Females have done well for me. Great fish to boot.

Thank you. They were at the lfs for a month so hopefully they are over shipping. They are both out and swimming openly, the borb is done showing aggression. They eat mysis shrimp which I am mixing in cubes of the pe mysis with the rods. They will mouth pellets and then spit them back out, going to try and work on that.
