Anyone with experience with Hawaiian Longfin Anthias ( Pseudanthias hawaiiensis ) ? I recently picked up several of these beutiful fish at this point i am treating them as ventralis closest relative i guess. They've been in a QT ( holding tank for 1 day now ) Watching closely and waiting for them to eat. Here's a picture of when i drip acclimated them along with the aurulentus anthias.

I've heard bad thing about getting males to acclimate so i went with all females. The aurulentus look great even in natural light, i was a little bummed at first, i thought they would hold there own on color compared to my favoguttatus , either way there very pretty =) I am very happy with them and those are already eating .

Here's some more bad pictures of them . There hidding everywhere in that holding tank , hard to get good looks at them . The aurulentus seem to be far more active.

trying to feed in the dark to see if it's a light thing, still no luck yet. tried about everyfood now. Hopefully they come around in the next few days... Anyone with any experience with these fish?

wow gorgeous goldies you have there.. im starting to specialise in anthias so im going to be looking to try mix a variety of them that are compatable.. doubt we will find many of those here in SA..

good luck with both species as both are very hard to keep long term and to acclimate. Hopefully they were collected well too!

Good luck, great looking fish, I was in HI in July, went diving with a commercial diver who is a friend, he collected 9 juvs, I tried to take 6 and before I left to go home all 6 were dead, the other 3 went to the Wiakiki aquarium, not sure why the ones I tried to keep died, I have a set up that should have been fine, but none made it. I got pics of mine in the bucket and on the boat, your photos are better, but here is one in the collection container

Happen to know if the ones that went to wiakiki made it or not?

as for an update on the fish, one is now eating the smallest female is eating like a pig... One of the larger females is poking at food once and a while.. still hoping ... Looks like 2-3 of the aurulentus are actively eating , although one of them is doing the anthias slow death routine " i don't want to live while looking perfectly healthy suspended in a corner with a blank stare >< "

Keeping the water @74F for now .. May go lower if things don't improve.

Tonight's pictures during the water change of the QT system, fish being held in the acclimation container.
