Just saw this on a Local Craigslist ad. I tang policed them. UGH. There was a photo but I'm not near my computer to post it.

My husband and I are trying to find a home for our salt water tank, as we are moving across the country. 35 gallon, complete with everything seen in the picture. Includes a bonded pair of ocellaris clowns who have just laid eggs, hosting a true carpet anemone, blue hippo tang, sailfin tang, yellow tail blue damsel, fire shrimp, pair of skunk cleaner shrimp, handful of peppermint shrimp, nassarius snails, emerald crabs, hermits, sally lightfoot crab, millepora, caulastra, pulsing xenia, polyps and torch corals! Also special day and night time lighting, a heater for the winter, all filter stuff, food, and water testing stuff. Too much to list!! Priced to sell

Craigslist us full of stuff like this it's sad :(

I saw a video on YouTube once a guy had a naso tang that was about 1/3 the size of the tank it was in :/

If they're moving they may well have had a 240G that sold before all of the livestock, which led to them temporarily placing them in the 35G. Just food for thought.

No that's not the case. I went back and forth with them a couple times and finally gave up. They've had lots of interest in the Tang with people who "Have 90G tanks or bigger"

They showed me. Poor thing. They said tank size is debatable. I told them to show me any reputable source that says a blue tang in a 35 is ok. They sent me an article from 2011 that bashes tang police. This writer was definitely advocating that the limits set are high but he never said anything about the tang. All he really said was a 4" fish is ok in a 40" by 12" tank.

I told the craigslister that the tang will be 12" long. They said they know what they are doing. Sad.

I wish LFS would post tank sizes in the stores. But they never would.

I hardly go to one of the LFS I like bc a guy sold be an Atlantic Blue Tang knowing I had a 40B. Once I found this site and realized what the impact was I had to tear my tank apart to catch and return him.

Now I'm planning my whole tank setup with another LFS. I think bad advice hurts them in the end. Short sighted sale at the time that produces bad results has people leave the hobby and never spend another penny.

They have plenty of free GHA to go with the setup too....

thats sad. those tang's deserve better.

Yeah these things pop up. Pretty sad. These types of people are the bread and butter for the local LFS. They "Know what their doing" and just keep buying replacements.

Ah, yeah that's a totally different story then what I suggested then. That is sad, like locking a lab in a closet for it's whole life.

I agree, I think LFS's that focus on just getting a sale today lose a LOT of potential money down the road. One tried to sell me a Picasso Trigger for my 10G once, I left and never went back.

we were at our LFS the other day and my wife saw a Picasso there and asked if we could get it. Both the girl working there and myself said at the same time not unless we want a larger tank now. :) I like my LFS, I would trust them with anything.
