Help, anemone looking weird

will you do what we asked and check your parameters????? "she" is still looking aweful and somthing is very wrong.

Feed her ...I feed mine every day....I have a bta, Condy, and a carpet. The thing you have to realize is that they will move wherever they want....you can try moving it but it would be constant....my Condy is constantly moving. I think 2 times a week is not enough on a new tank....not established enough to support it. I would try feeding it more often

I actually do a mix with everything including fish. I have filter feeders as well. First thing I do is take a small cup and put a little water in it to mix. Then I break off about a quarter size of lrs reef frenzy and stick it in. Then I add one cube of mysis shrimp, a cap full of marine snow, cap full of phytofeast and one very small spoon full of reef roids....it comes with a spoon and that's what I use. I mix it all then I hand feed everything in my tank and ussuallly have extra for the fish and I just dump what's left in the tank and the fish eat it. I have had no experience with worms so I'm not sure on that but it doesn't sound like something they would eat. And as far as the last post, they don't need flow to move. They're foot moves them along. Which is why it's pointless to move him because they will move back to whatever they like....it's just like a human....are you going to choose a pin cushion or a recliner to sit in? The recliner. So if the anemone moves to a spot it's more than likely where they feel most comfortable and think they will do their best. But also remember most anemones like their foot to be covered in the sand, or in a crevice to be protected from things pecking at it...it's the only part of the anemone that isn't protected by the sting of the tentacles. So naturally it wants to protect itself.

Sorry, but I don't agree with being pointless to move one. Nems don't have eyes and brains and the ability to look around a tank and decide they don't want to move a certain direction because they have or have not been somewhere.

Can a Nem move on it's own? Yup and BTAs are notorious for it. Can they also run out of energy and just stick somewhere and hope for the best? I would believe so as I have seen/heard about a good many do that. One of the best things you can do for one you know is not getting enough light (Like this one) is move it up in the tank. By up Miguel we mean towards the very top, where is now Miguel it may get enough light, but it's really hard to tell. The spot it is in now is MUCH better then where it was before. Leave it there for a few days and see how it responds.

DO NOT try to feed it everyday as somebody recommended. It's already sick and low on energy. It takes energy to digest food and if it is unable to digest what you give it, it can rot inside the nem and cause bacterial problems as well as what it already had. If it starts looking better by Tuesday or Wednesday, then you can try feeding it a small piece of something, but until then I would really recommend against giving it anything.

Great advice x2

Ok ok, I will wait and see, if it goes worst I have a friend that can save it and this would be my last nem, u have to know when to stop

And if u do t feed it then it's going to die considering it doesn't have the energy to even move

Please stop trying to give advice here. All you're doing is confusing the guy. I'm not trying to be rude, but the advice you are giving is inaccurate and you're going to kill this guys poor nem faster then it's already dying.

Fact of the matter is, a Nem does not need to be fed to survive, they are photosynthetic. Many of us have nems that have not been fed for months and they survive just fine.

On the moving part I have to disagree, because it is been moving like crazy with no problem at all, now it is here

Miguel I got my Cherub Angel two weeks ago. Beautiful fish, mine is about an inch long and nips at EVERYTHING.

Does yours nip at your corals?

Here's my little guy

I'm sorry that I missed this, but I do agree with you Amoo. I think anyone that owns a nem of any species should take the time to understand what they are and how they survive. Most all of the anemones that we have in the hobby are not needing to be fed anything other than proper stable water parameters and good sufficient lighting. I've got two small to medium bta's and I feed them once a week because I want them to grow, not because they need to eat or "look" hungry. :hmm4:

This is of course if it's a healthy nem. If there is no zooxanthellae they need food. Ok I'm done.

Just an fyi, they are not photosynthetic. They need green algae to do that....the question is if the tank is established enough. If you think I'm wrong go check out the national geographic page on anemones.

On the nipping part, no, but he was terrorizing all my fishes for about 1 week, and they were all hiring, now is being two weeks and they are just fine, but no, no nipping just yet
