Help find sch 80 elbow

So i ordered some plumbing parts a couple days ago one piece being a schedule 80 2"x2" elbow. well it turns out that it is not big enough to screw onto the bulk head to my sump.

Ive looked online at numerous sites trying to find the size i need in sch 80. ive seen a 3" version but im sure thats going to be to big.

since the bulk head threads seem to be 2" like the elbow i have im assuming im going to need like a 2.5" elbow. the problem being that i need one side of the elbo to be 2" to make connection with the pump.

so what im looking for is a 2.5" fpt x 2" slip sch 80 elbow. does anyone know a place i can pick something like this up.

2.5" PVC doesn't officially exist. Ive looked for it, if you somehow manage to find it they're going to want a lot for it.

well if it doesnt exist then why make 2" bulkheads.. that seems kinda silly they dont make a fitting that readilly screws onto the threaded portion of the bulkhead.

but i agree that it is not easy to find.

The threads on the outside of the bulkhead are not meant for attaching plumbing. They are only for the nut. If you can, just take it with you to the local big box hardware store and find the correct size to fit on the inside.

If you are trying to thread something onto the outside threading of the Bulkhead coming out of your sump, then that is the issue. The outside thread which is always a bizarre size is actually just there for the hex nut for tightening it to the tank/sump.

I hoped the same thing, that I could attach directly to it. After poking around a bit I found a video on BRS (www.bulkreefsupply.com) that explicitly stated to never try it.

What I am about to do today is drill new holes into my old lexan sump to accomodate 1.5" bulkheads which need much larger holes. I got bulkheads with inside threading so I could thread in an adapter that is male pipe thread on one end (going into the bulkhead) and the other is the barb end. While I could probably hard plumb right to my exterior pump's intake, I like the flexibility of having at least a short section of hose and any possible vibration muffling it may offer.

If the inside of your bulkhead is smooth, you could also opt to pvc cement a piece of straight pvc pipe into the bulkhead. The tricky part there is you might then need to use a pipe-to-(whatever) adapter and they tend to have their widest part be a hex section that might be ever so slightly larger than the interior diameter of the hex nut for the bulkhead itself. So then you half to basically hard-cement the hex nut in there while the bulkhead is attached to the tank/sump. I did that once and had to sand down the pipe adapter to wear down those hex projections on the adapter so that I could get the hex nut on and off heh.

So when I ordered the bulkheads for this plumbing upgrade, I went with the interior threading so I can just use pipe "poop" (liquid teflon) on the threading and easily take it off whenever I need to.

G.

ahh ok gotcha. yes i was trying to find something to thread onto the outside. thx for the responses i can now move forward and pick another method to start plumbing this beast =).

HERE is a Sched 80 2.5" FPT Elbow. You can then get a reducer of some sort to go smaller to 2".

The correct way to plumb the threaded bulkhead is from the ID (inner diameter). Some have a slip fitting, some have a thread. So a 2" bulkhead is plumbed with 2" piping. Not 2.5".
