HELP!!! fish dying.

I just did a 20 gal water change on my 125 and within 2 hours my powder brown and flame angel are laying on the sand and breathing heavily, not moving. My other fish seem a bit stressed but still swimming and seem like they will be ok.

While doing the water change a cucumber fell of the rockwork and got sucked into my maxi mod. I was able to remove it without it getting chopped into pieces, but half his body was sucked through the propeller cover, pretty badly.

So obviously either the cuke released toxins (which i am leaning towards) or the new water was contaminated.

I am running new carbon and poly filter floss. Any suggestions? What do you think are the chances of them pulling through. This really sucks, both fish ahve been with me for about two yeras :(

There is no information to go on. If you list things like tanks age and size ,equipment you use , amount of LR and LS , and some stock. You can do this under your profile so we dont have to ask everytime.
With this said im curios how you mixed new batch and how you prepared it before adding and how long you waited?

125 gal + 30 gal sump/refugium
Setup for 1.5 years, contents (live rock) Ive had for over 6 years
150 lbs of LR
1" sandbed
Chaeto
~40x flow
CSS 220 skimmer (getting new octo DNW-200 skimmer tomorrow)

- Small naso
- Flame angel
- pair of percs
- small powder brown

I mixed my water as always, in a 22 gal rubbermaid container. RO/DI water, IO salt and let circulate for 48 hours. The tub was uncovered so that's why i am considering a posibility that some contaminant got to it, although i have done it this way for years with no problem.

Thanks for your help.

my wife came home once with a sea cucumber and i took it right back cause ive read too much about toxins they release when they die, you need to do some serius water changes, good luck i feel for you
