I woke up this morning to see my tanks temp is at 73degrees and my green bubble tip is in it's "curled" up state. The mouth is openish and I'm worried. All other water parameters are in check. My heater obviously needs to be replaced so I'm going to go get a new one right now, but anything else I can do to make this thing live? It's mouth is like an inch open, but it's still hanging almost upside down to the rock. Advise please asap!

Ok, went to the LFS and picked up a MarineLand 400watt heater and set it to 79...Can anyone tell me if my BTA is going to make it or what I can do to help it out?

There really Is no way to tell if it's going to come back. Hopefully when you added the heater you gradually rose the temp over a couple of hours... The way back up to the right temp can be just as detrimental as the temp dropping. Make sure he is not spitting out any of his guts and then over the next couplee of days you will either see improvement or it go downhill.

Ok, just to help diagnose I'll put some pics up.
I have the heater on 79, it seems to rise a little, like a degree over the last 45 minutes. So I'm thinking that should play out well.

Usually when the actinics only are on at night is when I see it expand the most..I'll be keeping a close eye on it, but still any suggestions are welcome

It doesn't look that bad. How long have you had it though? It almost looks like it is a bit bleached.

It definitely looks bleached, but given the stress it's been under the past few hours, it's tough to tell. If I were you, I'd actually set the heater for, say 75 degrees, let it get there for a few hours, then up another 2 degrees, another few hours, and finally all the way back to 79. By setting your heater at 79 right away, the fast climb up can be as stressful, or more, than the drop. I've brought temp up too quickly before, and I think I ended up having to nurse a sick RBTA for much longer than if I had gone a little more gradual.

What size tank, what lights, distance from lights, etc?

75 gallon tank with 20gallon sump. 6x54 T5(3/3bulbs), and about 6 inches above water. The temp has got to 79 over a period of about 5 hours. It seems to be inflating slightly so overall I hope it'll be alright. The inside of it, not the actual tips is whiter compared to the tips, but they are a neon green...
