Help Getting Substrate White Again

Can I soak my 10 year old 2mm crushed coral substrate in vinegar to get it back to its original whiteness? It seems there is coralline or other growth on the grains making it look drab. I've tried stirring up any detritus but it seems more of a grain surface discoloration. Any tips?

Wow, a 10 year old crushed coral bed. I would imagine it would be pretty well covered in coraline. I suppose you could try to soak it, but keep in mind that when you remove it, you will also be removing the beneficial bacteria that is in/on it. It could cause an ammonia spike. I'd suggest only removing a portion at a time.
