I have had a florescent green carpet. It has been in my tank for a week. It has gone to the back and shrunk a bit, some milky stuff is coming out of it. Is it taking a crap or is it shedding or is it a gonner? have any of you seen this substance and have it live? How long should I wait before removing it from the tank before it starts poisoning everything and what should I be looking for for signs of it croaking?

Any help appreciatred. THANKS!!

120 gallon ... 2 250 watt halides, uvs, etc

tank conditions fine ... think it may be spawning or something .. looks inside-out kinda

Hi - I'm going through something similar with a new nem I introduced to the system last Saturday. I went back and had a long talk with the LFS guy. He said that I should keep an eye on my nem and if I see a white milky substance coming from the animal, it's not a good sign. He said to watch and see if the mouth hangs open and secretes the milkly substance, if so, probably dying. Then he suggested the sniff test, if it smells bad get it out of the tank before it pollutes.
