These Anemones keep multiplying, they look great however they are taking over my tank and now that I have new light I want to add hard coals and other anemals like Clams. Pluss the Anemones keep stinging my Leather Corol and causing her to close. I would say she is the show peace of me tank so I need to reduse the Anemones. The problem is I have nice rock that I do not want to part with, any sugestions to get the Anenomes off the rocks without harming them?

The best way would be to remove the rocks they are on and slowly and gently pry them loose using your finger nail if you can reach the edges of their foot. I've heard that blasting them with flow will cause them to want to move and during their migration they are easy to remove.
If you decide to sell them, I'd like dibs. :)

Peal the foot with a butter knife works every time but be gentle and take your time

I would never use anything other than my finger to detach anemones. I need to feel them to make sure I am not tearing them.

I have heard you can put a flowerpot over the desired anemone that needs to be moved. When the anemone goes looking for more light they will usually crawl up onto the pot in the process. From there you can just remove the pot along with the anemone. Again I have only heard this and never tried it.

What is the name of this anenome? I've seen them in a LFS once and I'd like to get them someday. Not a fan of bubble tips. Are these just Rose Long Tentacle?
Thanks!
And good luck getting them out :)

Some BTA don't do the bubble tip. And some that do, quit when a clow uses it as a host.

I position a powerhead at the base of the nem, a few inches away. Blast him for a few hours and he'll let go! I wouldnt dare try to peel them off the rock, too risky!

thanks.

thanks.

I just purchased a small 2nd tank so once its ready I will be able to transfer these guys into the 20 gal tank and try to use the power head to get them off the rock.

x2 that's a very nice RBTA colony. they split and they spread, that's what RBTAs do :D

I would sell/trade them for sure. You can get some very good trades for those...

sounds great to me. As I get them free from the rock i wioll be able to sell or trade. If intereasted let me know.

Unless the anemone cooperates (which they never do), remove the rock and suspend the rock over a bucket of water so the anemone dangles in the water. Secure the rock and go nurse a beer.

When you are done, the anemone will be in the water and you can put the rock back in the tank.

Although it may not look pleasant for the anemone, it is far safer than trying to peel the foot of a rock.
