what is this thing??

i saw this gamaris looking shrimp with spikes in my tank today. i tryed to suck him out with my turkey baister but he was too fast


sory my camra is a peace of junk


i hope he isn't a zoa eater. i think igot him on some zoas i just bought online

It looks like an amphipod... you probably have hundreds of these things in your live rock. Reef safe and good to have!

read up on ampipods eating zoo's... they aren't as harmless as some people make out too.....

Get a 6line he will keep them under control.

They could eat your Zoanthids if they run out of food elsewhere. They especially seem fond of Zoanthus gigantus commonly called People Eaters. Here is a thread discussing them.

awww crap, I have HUGE ones of these in my 50g that recently went from FOWLR to reef... I also have a green spotted puffer who I'm sure gets some but not enough... I wonder if I could pull off a 6 line in there with the puffer & maroon clown.

In a 40 breeder he would run out of pods to eat.

Not in 10 years have I or anyone I have personally known has had an amphipod eat a zoa. JME.

I had some decimate 6 colonies... I added a mandarin with my 6line.. have managed to control the ampipod swarms...
