I need more snails, what do you suggest?

I prefer not to buy any that can't right themselves when they fall onto their back. I have a ton of empty shells from snails that slipped off the glass and became hermit food.

What kinds would you suggest for algaea grazing and detritus/uneaten food?

Thanks!

Trochus and Stomatella snails will be fine as far as falling, but hermit crabs will eat snails, period.

It doesn't help when they are laying helpless on their backs though.

I rarely see the hermits bothering my snails except when they are upside down and unable to move.

Where's a good place to order from (cheap)?

I have bought Trochus from ipsf.com, and both types from InlandAquatics.com, but IPSF only sells them in a combo pack. There are likely other vendors. Both species can reproduce in tanks, so I have all I need and then some. :)

I aslso like cerith snails as scavengers if you have sand.

They also work great in crushed coral and in aragonite.
