OK what I have In mind Is between 60-100 gal give or take. I think the width will be 36'-40" the Depth any where form 20-30" and no higher than 20' not Interested In Starfire either, too expensive for not much difference! So all Ideas are welcome as this has got to be my last tank. And She means It this time!!!
Plus I'm leaning towards a Coast to Coast type overflow and It must be Rimless.
Well there you go, Now build me a tank, Please...

I forgot the only piece of equipment that I already have Is a RKL so everything else must be from scratch. Whoopie....

I think you just like building tanks. Lol. I've been likeing The shallow rimless myself. I've been thinking about 48x48x15 or 48x36x15. I think the best view of a reef tank is from the top.

Bill,

there is a speacial at the critter which really can't be beat. It's an Ocea 100 with a single corner overflow, with a NICE Ocea stand and Hood for $699.00. Normally a grand. If I was shopping another tank I would take it in a heartbeat.

Since your starting from scratch, you going to do a rubbermaid sump again or do I have to sellf you back the sump I bought from you 8 months ago?

60x30x20 really opens up some options with the fish selection..

Probably a nice size that is not too big and not too small.

FYI, if you are thinking coast to coast on the overflow, Ocea told me that they could actually do a coast to coast external overflow. I really am starting to think that an external coast to coast might be the ideal overflow, except for perhaps a false back wall overflow setup.

Are you really limited to 40" width. I love the idea of the dimensions 48 x 25 x 16 myself.

Wow... Ocea can do external coast to coast overflows? Hmmm... I've got a coast to coast on my current tank and I like it, but it does take up quite a bit of room... I've always wanted an external, but the only way I've seen to do it has been either rimless or with a dremel and a LOT of time.

I'm beginning to REALLY like Ocea. They really seem to have their fingers on the pulse of reefing... good stuff!

As far as sizes go, I'm thinking 48x24x18 would be really nice. Could possibly even use 150w MH on it instead of 250w.

I just sold a 60x30x24 so want one smaller, But good size for sure!

Andy, That tank Is very narrow at 18" deep= very limited in aquascaping but I am going to look at It Monday, Thanks

48x24x18 Is In consideration, Though I worry that Isn't deep enough

Brandon, Yes they do make External CTC overflows already talked to him, But they no longer sell to the public and you must go through a retailer! As soon as they get big they all do the same thing and cut us out!!! Gotta give GC credit, Still selling to public
Thanks for all the responses so far and keep Em comming.

Brandon, He told me they use an Acrylic strip to do the overflow, Ithink they make the back glass lower then add that strip with teeth to the upper section of glass and paint It all black. Then build the box on the back to your dimensions.
Also I meant the depth of the tank, And i think that 19" has something to do with their glass waste as they want you to go 19" verses 20" for some reason and It Is usually financial IMO

Zef, I like those sizes but lighting would require lots of $$$ plus a canopy to hide It all IMO
If I stay within 30 deep and 48 wide I can get by with 2x250 plus 2-4 Leds for supplement lighting. I really want this one to be more cost effective and use less equipment. No monster Skimmers, Ca reactor Etc. Plus I want to hang the lights I'm thinking about those Aqua Medic HQI again But Have not decided yet.

The tank I just had built by Ocea is 72x26x19. It is rimless with no bracing at all and it does have starfire. I went with a external cup overflow on the outside of the tank. The teeth are cut into the back wall of the tank (3' wide) so its like a waterfall going over the back. The canopy will be just like the one I have now that hangs from the ceiling. The stain is dark walnut. Just so everyone knows he is running about a week behind as of right now but should be caught up soon.

Bill, I really think you should find a 36x24x20 tank. I think that would be perfect. As a big plus, in a year or tow when you are ready to go bigger I will buy it from you. :) :) :)

I'm Thinking along the lines of two choices so far
1. 48 x 26 x 19 =103 gal
2.40 x 24 x 19 =79 gal
My reasoning Is that I can light either tank for about the same cost, And have the room for either one also. I'm leaning towards the first choice but will wait for pricing to decide for sure. Plus can put a large sump on to help with stability as this one will have no fish room. That goes away with the house remodel. Keep the Idea's coming, It's got to be right the first time.
Thanks for everyone's Input so far

OK Been Busy today and I do have a new Tank,Skimmer,Lighting and the need to go to Lowe's In the AM for my Stand and Hanging Canopy Materials so I can get busy building them.
I went with a 36"x24"x15" Rimless with a corner overflow, Mainly because It was In stock.
Second the Skimmer Is the Vertex IN 250 may be a little big but those who know me I skim Heavy.
Also picked up a brand new Lumatek 250W Electronic W/30% Overdrive button model
And a Workhorse 6 ballast to Fire 4 36" T5 HO's and will add a LED bar or two from the Critter to finish It off.
Most likely will go with Pheonix 14K HQI and a mixture of T5's to yet be determined.
Next stop Is a LFS for a 40 breeder to make my Sump and get it plummed, May also try one of those new pumps they have to for my return.
Anyhoo, there you go not bad for the first day now I need Macro Rock Zach are you ready??? I'll call you tonight?
