Help me find a HUGE anemone.

Hello all.
As alot of you know, I'm still on my hunt for a nice magnifica, preferably a magenta based specimen, but I won't turn away any other specimen of any species (BTAs, LTAs, Sebaes, etc.) as long as it is well established and SUPER HUGE. Yep, I'm looking for a center piece anemone to house a group of locally grown baby ocellaris. The bigger the better.
I would love a XL blue gigantea but it would have to be a long term specimen that has outgrown someones tank, as I don't feel right trying any more wild harvested specimens.
I've moved out 95% of my corals and only left a few rose BTAs and a few green BTAs in the 240 cube.
I've got a lot of realestate saved for something really big and special, but I've had no luck locally for the last year.
If anyone out there living near a coast, who has access to suppliers, please keep your eye out for me.
Thanks!
Sean

You have PM on a big red haddoni, in my LFSs display tank .... $$$ asking price, but he will probably come down. Looks pretty good. I saw it last week.

Here's a pic of my 2 babies, Sebae(H.Crispa) and LTA(M.Doreensis).
Sebae is 22"-24", LTA 18"-20"
Occs did go in both, but only after seeing/following my maroon(yrs ago, that didn't last, and I don't recommend)
Some have had luck putting pic of clown/nem next to tank.

Those are very nice! If you ever want to move them out, let me know ;)
We have a local hobbyist that is now raising occellaris with close to 100% hatch and survival rate. He's raised several hundred this past several months. We are very excited about his success locally and I can't wait to help fund his continued project by buying a full brood to put in the 240.
So, I hoping to get a very very large nem and several smaller nems for them to hang out in.
Should be cool!
Thanks again all for the replies.
Delphinus- Now I know you have some connections right? Help me out here will ya!?
:)

I hope for you those occs take to whatever you get instead of a PH or veggie clip or something!

I know the clowns that he is speaking of, and they will host anything that even resembles an anemone! I went to a LFS this weekend that had 24 of them in stock, and saw about 10 of em in a slipper coral with the rest bouncing back and forth between BTAs in the tank. :)

Haha, no worries. I wish I had connections, if I did believe me I'd set you up. :) I was tempted to offer you my mag (not a pink base though) but the 23 hour drive (I looked it up on mapquest) is probably really a bit too insurmountable. I had no idea how to go about shipping a large anemone. I'd be a bit worried about the outcome. When I moved houses a few years ago, the anemone slimed up pretty bad and it was only in transit a couple hours. I wonder if the thing to do is try for a smaller one and feed it generously to encourage quick growth? Mine did grow from about 5" to 18" in about 8 weeks or so. Maybe I fed it too much.

Here's my monster H. crispa. I've had it for about 2 1/2 years. The tank is 36" front-to-back and 20" tall.

I know I should be embarassed by the poor quality of this pic but I haven't cleaned the coraline off my tank in weeks.

And no, it's not for sale! :D

I thought the entire point of this thread was to help sonofgaladriel find a large anemone to buy for his tank.

Did I miss the part about it being for the purpose of showcasing large anemones that are NOT for sale?

Sonofgaladriel,

Are you willing to trade some of your awesome woodwork? It might help the cause.

I just saw a Large red carpet anemone at one of our LFS. It was gorgeous but out of my price range. Don't know if it is good or bad but they were asking $500.00. They said they have had no takers for awhile so they may be willing to bargain alittle. They are still a fairly new store and haven't gotten their web site completely up and running but here is it anyways... TheCoralCorral.com Phone number is (866) 773-6561.
Good luck and hope this helps.:D
