Help me stock this 120 w/sps

elegance coral

They call me EC
Never really been much into SPS corals. I think I have all the larger critters I can put in this tank though. I also picked up a little brown ORA frag. When I brought it home, the wife thought I lost my mind. "Why did you buy an ugly brown stick!!!!!!!!" I tried to assure her that it would change colors, but she wouldn't buy it. Then she got her friends to come over and laugh at my little brown stick. She had fun with it for a while.

Here it is shortly after I purchased it. I took the pic as soon as I noticed polyps coming out.

A few weeks later, things started to change.

Now it's even more blue and I'm the one laughing.:lolspin: Funny how nobody wants to talk about my "brown stick" anymore.:lolspin:

Anyway...... After watching this one improve so much, I went and purchased a few more. Now I feel a fever coming on, and I want more SPS corals to fill in my tank. What I need from you are suggestion or recommendations on how to accomplish this. Which corals should I get? What's your favorite SPS that would work in my tank? Can you share some pic's of cool looking SPS? Any and all guidance greatly appreciated.

Here's a horrible video of the tank I just shot. I'm still working on the flow right now.

One more thing. Does anyone know the species or the nickname of the coral I posted above? It's an ORA coral. That's all I know about it.

PasserAngelfish means how do you know its an ORA coral. First off lets get some basics down for sps. What lighting do you have? Sps like lots of light, high flow, stable water. Ca 400-450, alk 8-10, mag 1300-1400.

All the ORA frags my LFS gets, comes on black plastic frag plugs. I also know the owner very well, and was there back when he ordered them.

My lighting is two 250W 20K HQI MH's, and two 54W T5's with reflectors. The tank is a standard 120. I have three large anemones that require high flow rates, so I believe I have enough flow. At least in the areas I would be placing SPS corals.

thanks for the input.

sorry for the misunderstanding of my question.
my question should be: how did you change the SPS frag color?
BTW, may i know what is ORA? Oceans Reefs & Aquariums?

Yes. That's the ORA we're talking about.

To change the color, I simply placed the coral in an environment that has lower nutrients and better lighting, than the environment I got it from.

have you tried to contact ORA for identification?

PM me for contact info at ORA.

Thanks. I was really hoping someone here knew the name off the top of their head. I went to the ORA website and found several possibilities. I think I'll just have to let it grow out a bit before I can be sure what it is. Thanks again for the help though.
