Help on identifing what I think is a baby Anemone

FYI, this is my first post on Reef Central. I've been researching on the site for the last 3 months, since I started my first "Reef Tank", so I'm definitely very new to the saltwater side. I've been on the freshwater side for about 40 years.

Anyways ... my tank is 20 gallons and I have one Live Rock that I put in 5 weeks ago and 8 lbs of base/dry rock. Yesterday I found what I think is a baby anemone. It's only about 3mm diameter. I've attached a very close-up photo of it. I'm pretty excited about finding it and hoping it's a good find vs. a nasty one. My uneducated guesses include a Pseudocorynactis of some sort, White Ball Corallimorph, Corynactis or Strawberry Anemone.

I think this is actually a coral. I have 2 that look very similar, but bigger and they have a calcified base.

I believe your guess was correct and its a Pseudocorynactis aka ball anemone.

Rippinfrags ... Thanks! The more pictures I look at it seems right to me. I'll be watching it closely as it grows to see what type. It looks like there are a bunch of them.

Thanks, looks like it's possible. I wish it were bigger, so I can get a better picture. It's so small now that I have to use my macro lens on my SLR camera to get a half decent picture. I wonder how fast it will grow?

It's been about 4 months since I posted the first picture of the Anemone and it's now 20-25mm diameter. I have 3 of these and they like to be in the shadows on the bottom half of the rock, in a cave-like area. After more research it appears to be a Pseudocorynactis Caribbeorum. I really like the green glow it has. It sound like they might get big, so I eventually might have to remove them from my tank, since I have a Ruby Red Scooter Blenny and a couple of Clownfish.

Any thoughts?

Cup coral or ball anemone would be my guess

Tidal gardens did a video on these guys. orange ball anemone which is actually a carnevorous mushroom that doesn't like bright light. They don't harm anything until they get massive. The little white dots on the tinticles are extremely sticky and so easy to feed.
