I bought a aquamedic 250x2 fixture from you guys, and received it about a month ago. Everything was working fine until today, when the wife and I got back home, the lights were not on (on timer) So I checked the fixture and it looked like both bulbs have fried, so now I have no lights for my tank. what could have done this? The ballast is connected to a surge protector, which is then connected to a GFCI outlet, just like directions recommended, can it be a faulty ballast? Can you please direct me and advise on warranty procedures for this product, thank you.. Dave

Hi Dave,

I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble with your hood. It is very uncommon for both bulbs to fail at the same time. Did you try taking the hood off of the timer and plugging the ballast directly into the wall and turning it on? Also, what made the bulbs look like they had gone bad?

AquaMedic handles all warranty problems direct on their products, and they can be reached at 970-461-0023.

Before calling them let me know what happens when taking the timer out of the equation, and check your gfci as well.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Jeremy,
After looking closely at the bulbs, it looks like they are fine (compared it to friends used bulbs) I even tested it out with a friends unit and they are firing fine, yet, it won't seem to work with my unit. I will check everything you have advise, and hopefully it will be something minor, will let you know. thanks, Dave

OK, after checking everything last night, the ballast is the culprit, I tried out a friends ballast today, and the hood works properly.
