Excellent rockscape. Lots of potential, there.

Also, kudos for your fine macro photography skills.

Thank you again Dave for your encouraging words. Photography is another interest of mine and macro photography in particular is a nice bonus for me in this hobby. The photos above were taken with a Canon 7D and a Canon 60mm macro lens.

UPDATE:

Now the furniture is completed and I have added more fish and yesterday the first sps corals so it is starting to look more like a reef and not a rock excavation :).

I lost one of my captive bred clowns after it was trying to nest in the tridacna clam. I didn't see it happen but all of a sudden he was floating around the tank and could not swim. He died after a few minutes. I assume it can have been a "heart attack" event but I am pretty sure the clam crushed him (no external signs though). DHL managed to screw up a delivery with fish from Germany which resulted in 5 chromis, 3 anthias, 1 cleaner shrimp but the rest of the fish seem ok.

I have installed a new wavebox after my old one broke. I also installed a Schuran Multifilter 100. The chaetomorpha is starting to grow nicely in the refuge and I also dose alcohol and use ozone. The nitrates are still a bit elevated and I have some algae in the sand and on the rocks but not a major problem. I now have 3 strombus snails that are good at keeping the sand clean.

Thank you all for your kind comments!

The tank is quite stable now and the growth is picking up. When the weather gets warmer I will add more corals and fish but I am taking things slowly and enjoy the slow and stable change. The calcifying algae now covers most of the dead rock and fan worms and sponges makes the rocks look alive.

I am very pleased with the concept of the tank and how it has worked out so far. It is great not to see a single cord or pump in the display and it does add a lot to the viewing experience. I also sleep better at night knowing that all the water is contained within the aquarium. One fear I had was that the circulation would be a problem with all the pumps on one side of the tank but the streams in combination with the new wavebox seems to handle it well. I may need a bit more light but for now the 2x250w MH and 240w from the T5 is enough. I will most likely make a change to LED later but for now I am pleased.

I am glad I made the refugium viewable and I think I and people visiting almost spend as much time in front of the refugium as the main display :). I will try to make this more interesting and also add some corals with lower light requirements.

Refugium:

The chaetomorpha is growing quickly and a healthy population of pods and mysid shrimp is providing live food for the fish and corals in the main display.

Incredible tank, love the all in one, how does the ceramic wall work, water drawn in my tunze's ?. Does the skimmer have a intake from main display, great photo album as well.

Thank you guys!

There is an overflow comb in the upper left corner of the ceramic wall where the skimmer sits so the skimmer intake is behind the wall. Water also enters this area from the sides of the wall. I have placed a smaller stream pump inside the technical compartment to move the water here and avoid buildup of detritus and improve skimmer intake of particles. There is hardly any buildup of detritus so it seems to be working quite well (some of it is blown back into the main display but I don't see that as a problem).
