Hentz 60 SPS Dominant Tank

@Myka, wow! They were sold to me as "Black Onyx Clowns"! The Female has a little smudge of orange on the nose. I'd get a picture but she won't stay still long enough for me to capture one.

It's so annoying when vendors don't identify their fish properly. Often it's actually the supplier that started it, or with Clowns, the LFS get so many in, and they aren't labelled and the LFS gets confused about who's who.

Onyx Clown are a variation of A. percula. Darwin Clowns (sometimes called Black Ocellaris or Black and White Clowns) are a currently described as a variation of A. ocellaris just like orange Ocellaris. However, there are a lot of breeders that question if the Darwin Clown is actually a species of it's own because when you breed an orange Ocellaris with a Darwin the resultant offspring appear like F1 hybrids. Either way, the Darwin and the Onyx Clowns are my two favorite types. :)

It's official. I've ordered the ZEOvit package from BRS!
Though I realized, if I order the exact package, I can save $20 lol. So I did.

Can't wait to see how it effects my tank.

Its official, as of 4 days ago my tank began converting to ZEOvit.
I'm noticing my corals looking a tad pale, I assume its normal since the method is stripping the water, which makes sense.
I'm dosing according with G. Alexander via ZEOvit.com for the beginning of it.
All is going well and smooth so far, but its only been 4 days.
Skimmer is running nice and wet and has actually dramatically improved in skimming since I've gone ZEOvit. I haven't changed the dials or anything.

Aside from the ZEOvit change, my salinity was a shocking 1.030. I did a water change about a week ago, could have been from that maybe? I have noticed my coral PE go in just a tad as well. I also lost a fish I had just purchased, yellow tang. So today I slowly decreased the salinity back down to 1.026 where it usually is.

Parameters at 1.030 Salinity:
Calcium: 425
Alkalinity: 9
Mag: 1300

Parameters at 1.026 Salinity:
Calcium: 410
Alkalinity: 8.5
Mag: 1300 (remained the same)

If things start to look too pale, but sure to cut back on your ZeoStart 3 and
maybe also your reactor flow. Things are looking good.

I went ahead and does 1ml less today.

Made a nice purchase today, picked up 2 MP40's with QD wetsides, EcoTech Backup Battery, and a WXM Module for my apex for a smoking deal. Going to sell off my current MP40 and 2 MP10's as they're no longer needed!

I'm just shy from a month of starting the full ZEOvit. While my tank is still so young with the method, things are stabilizing and balancing out. Prior to this, I've had a coral in particular that turned green from blue, another with very faded purple tips and little to no polyp extension. Today, the acro that went green is a fairly bright and pastel Teal/Light Blue with some green in the middle and dark blue polyps. The Purple Tip Acro has very deep purple tips with crazy polyp extension throughout the day.

Zoanthids have usually melted in my tank. They would look amazing for 2 weeks then start to diminish by losing color and eventually melting. As of today, I'm having to break them away from my rock to stop from spreading to areas where I'd like to place future Acros.

Prior, my tank was used to sitting around 450-470 calcium. I had to reduce that very slowly but surely to 410-420 recommended by ZEOvit.

Dosing is very strict but extremely simple. I missed a day on accident and I could definitely see some corals not happy, which quickly made a come back. I'm only using the basic 4, as it is recommended I do so until the system is 100% ZEOvit.

Stirring the ZEOvit reactor is literally such minimal work. Just shaking twice, morning and night.

My thoughts so far, this is an amazing method and I'm so excited to see it progress with ZEOvit. As much as I've heard, "It is such a difficult method" "It's so time consuming" "It is so expensive." I completely have to disagree with each of those statements. While you already probable mess with your tank daily, lets be real, whats 2 drops of something and a quick shake of the handle on a reactor?

Attended a local Frag Swap! It was definitely fun. Got some great stuff I pray does well in my tank.

ATL Christmas Mirabilis Acro
California Tort Acro
Unknown Blue/Olive Green Acro
Red Dragon Colony
Neon Teal Milli
Pink Lemonade
Blue Stag
Blue/Green Tenuis Acro
Blue Tenuis Acro

Sorry for the crappy shot. Tank is a bit foggy from moving things around.

Just a few shots of yesterday's pick ups.

Neon Teal Milli, definitely settling in nicely.

ATL Christmas Mirabilis. Was drooling over this on his website before I saw yesterday in person. Done deal once I did.

Red Dragon colony. The local reefer also threw in a Pink Lemonade frag, all for $80! Hell of a deal!!

The tank is coming along nicely. You definitely got some good stuff at your frag swap. That ATL mirabilis is going to be amazing. Great deal on the red dragon as well!

All my corals are doing pretty well. Getting some gnarly polyp extensions on my acros. Especially my Red Dragon, newest colony. It gets super fuzzy at night!

One thing though, my ATL Christmas Mirabilis is starting to pale out. Slowly but surely.
It had bright vibrant colors as it's slowly starting to lose it. I still have decent PE though.
Nothing else in the tank, fortunately, is going pale.

Ca: 420
Alk: 7.5
Mag: 1300
Phos: 0
Nitrate: 0
Salt: 1.026

Weekly 5% water changes with Aquavitro salt

Daily feeding of LRS frenzy, sometimes skipping 3-4 days of feeding.

JUST switched reactor to continuous flow from on/off every 3 hours (recommended by ZEOvit). Having to clean the glass every 2 days or so.

Just switched over to LED's last night. Running two Hydra 26 HD's.Will buy a third if necessary for shadowing purposes.
Lights are so awesome. Loving the wireless control from my phone.
Will get pics up shortly

Man, the corals are looking great! I'm getting ready to start the 14 day zeo cycle on my tank. I have a total water volume of 125 gallons and was wondering how you calculated how much flow through the vertex zeo reactor?

Hi bps619, I'm not sure but on ZEOvit.com the forums show you how to check that. If I recall, it's simple.

Here's an update. Complete Hydra 26's and my corals love them so far. Though still way too early to tell.
My acros are having some insane polyp extension, especially this Red Dragon. This was the fussiest I've ever seen it at night!

Quite stocked up!

Purchased Today:
- Pink Lemonade Mini Colony
- Stag Mini Colony
- Purple Style Colony
- Green Poccillopora Colony

So my bubble algae issue has gotten out of control. It's time for me to take care of it! Starting with a temporary small Foxface.

But it's gotten so bad it's taken one of my encrusted colonies off!

Oh yeah... Been there! Actually, what am I saying.. I am there!!
It's a pain when they pry corals off like that..
Will you get some emerald crabs as well?
