Hentz's 75 SPS Dominated Reef

So I purchased my first "big" tank tonight. Biggest I've ever gone was a 40 Breeder, so going to a 75 from a 34 is pretty sweet! I was planning on buying a new tank until a local reefer offered this which was taking up space in his garage. Pay $500 for a brand new tank with a shorter stand (don't like that,) or pay $250 for a used tank which I can easily touch up?!

I'm NOT a fan of the color of the trim or the stand by any means and love my room to match, so I'll either just be painting it black all together or espresso.

I'll be painting the back black and the bottom white or tan (am going barebottom with this tank.)

The reefer I bought it from also had a WP40 for sale. Funny thing is, I was going to leave his house to purchase a WP40 at a store. Instead I bought a slightly used one for half the price, again, SCORE!

The tank came with a T5 fixture from ebay. Definitely won't use it, but for a little light, what's it going to hurt lol.

I plan on using a 6 or 8 bulb fixture, still unsure on that. Looking at a few as I plan on selling my current radion.

In the mean time, here is the tank in my garage as I type this. Tomorrow, my day off luckily, I will be spending all day prepping it and possibly getting it setup?!

So I am no longer going barebottom with this tank, though I am doing a very shallow sand bed with reef sand! Perfect, not too thick nor powdery.

Anyways, painted the stand black today to match my room, cleaned the tank up quite a bit, painted the back black, and bought and 8Bulb T5 AquaticLife today.

Thought my shoe looked cool under the light :P

Got my plumbing done as well as my sump in place.

Gotta deal with the loudness issue of my return, other than that, everything is ready to roll..

This was my English Mastiff - Bella (8 Months Old) - relaxing while I did the plumbing!

Here are some updates! Got some killer corals lately.

Highlighter Acropora
Blue Tenuis Acropora (SO DAMN BLUE!!!!!!)
Light Blue Stag
Random Millipora
Purple Bonsai Acropora

So my Highlighter acro decided to RTN last night... Woke up with flesh peeling off..... So luckily I got off work early today and was able to cut and frag some pieces before it all died off. Polyps are already out and everything. Hope they survive!

Now my frag rack is full lol.

Good luck with the new build hope it all works well for you.. Size is addicting lol I thought I'd be content with my 105 g but I'm not ha ha its already full and it's only 6 months old

Did you add any unions in the plumbing? The return line? How are you going to clean the pump?

If the noise drives you nuts look into doing a herbie on the overflow if you haven't already .. It will quiet it down dead silent. You can run your return up over the tank and use the existing holes in your box..
