Hentz's 75 SPS Dominated Reef

That's some nice growth there hentz:)
It'll be huge in no time!

Lol...your last sentence is sooooo true!

I know! 4 more months it'll be even bigger! Just in time for Christmas haha.

I know! I think all of is reefers get so into doing new things to our tanks, we get carried away and forget that leaving your tank alone and letting it do it's thing is the best thing you can do.

Very nice tank. I know its been a while but it seemed like you weren't long putting sps in the tank. Im pretty new to the whole sps thing but isn't it a no no to put sps in a new tank? Appreciate any advise you have for me

Welcome to the hobby!
Yes, it is a NO NO to put SPS in the tank early on. Rule is, once you see coraline, your tank is mature enough. Though I upgraded this from a Solana 34 which had quite a few SPS in it. So this tank wasn't "new" by any means. Was definitely established when I started the tank.

For proof of not putting SPS in a tank too soon, my nuvo 16 killed my SPS colonies I had bought due to it not being established enough. Lesson learned, quick lol.

Just switched some things up-today.

Spoke to a fellow reefer here in Vegas who I had traded my T5's for these Reefbreeders.

Instead of my lights peaking at 80B 80W, they're peaking at 40B 90W.

My corals are doing awesome, growth is exploding, though some of the colors just aren't doing as well. He said to only take blues up to 40% max. Going to give it a try for the next few weeks and check it out!

Looking great..when I was using the hydra 52 I run all blues at 100% ramping up and kept for 6 hours at 100 and whites max 30% and others about 40%..that's what worked best for me colors and growth

Some new colonies I picked up from a local reefer who's breaking down his tank and moving across some states.

Huge Pink Birdsnest
Green Slimer (Classic that I think all of us will always love)
Red Planet

Going on almost a month since my last FTS.

Here's one as of right now. My newest colonies have set in and everything is doing well. Fragged a couple things and will have to frag some more since some colonies are growing into one another.

Update: Haven't checked any parameters or anything in about a month. Tank is doing so well, I just don't feel the need to test. Plus I'm a firm believer of reading my corals rather than a test kit.
Also been busy with school (mid terms start today) and work as well. Haven't had too much time to look at the tank!

Fragged a couple corals the other night. Feels good when you need to trim occasionally!

Hentz, would you mind telling me what your maintenance schedule for the tank is and do you dose anything?

Thanks guys!

@Fish_1.... You ready for this? It's an intense regime that takes a lot of hard word.. Seriously..

I do weekly water changes of 20 gallons. Though, for about 2 months now, I haven't done one. I dose 2 cap fulls of Tech-M every once in a while. Other than that, I literally do nothing else. When I'm not busy, I'll feed the tank with Frenzy, Oyster Feast, Fuel, and some Marine snow, but that's a rare occasion.
