Hermits in Sump?

Do people put hermit crabs in their sump. If so, should it go in the fuge or should it go in all 3 chambers?

Small blue leg hermit crabs are fine as long as you don't plan on having small snails like nassarius or ceriths, the hermits will kill them.

Nothing but macroalgae, substrate (optional but advised IMO) and live rock rubble should ever be put in a refugium.
A refugium must be free of any and all predators or it is not a refugium.

I have a couple (2 or 3 I think) in my sump that were killing snails in the display. They catch any detritus that might go through after the filter sock overflows..

I have hermits in the display and in the sump. The reason they go after the snails is for their shells. Get a supply of shells and toss them in the tank. The hermits will leave the snails alone.

And also if they're going hungry. I always made sure my crabs had enough to eat. Never lost a snail to a hermit. I did lose a few injured things to nassarius snails, though.

Oh, I just read it again, sorry. I thought it said "live rock rubble should Never be put in a refugium".
My reading skills are lacking. :)

I threw a whole bunch in my sump a week ago.
Holding them till I can transport to a friend.

They cleaned up all the detritus, all compartments look sparkling new.

Now I throw them a few pellets every day or 2
