Thank you for having me! My name's Lou. I'm pretty much a beginner at keeping saltwater fish and am in desperate need to speak with someone locally about what places to shop at etc.

I have a 10 Gallon SW Tank and a 35 Gallon one.

I'd like to take this opportunity and ask a few questions:

1. Is there any good reading material that every beginner to the hobby SHOULD read?

2. What is a great and reliable place to shop online for dry and livestock goods?

3. Anyone from NJ?

=)

4. ...and my AIM name is: cpuwizshot

[welcome]

If you want to keep corals:

<a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1890087483/reeflink" target="_blank"><b>Aquarium Corals</b></a><br>Selection, Husbandry, and Natural History<br><i>by Eric Borneman</i><br><a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1890087483/reeflink" target="_blank"><img src="http://images.amazon.com/images/P/1890087483.01.TZZZZZZZ.jpg"></a>

For fish, Scott Michael's books are great, IMO.

Well, there are probably more qualified people than me to tell you what all you need for your new tank. I will recommend a store for you though. It's worth the drive. It is probably about 2 or 3 hrs from your place. It is called That Fish Place in Lancaster, PA. You can check it out online, but it is worth the time to go there and check it out. You can get everything you need in one stop! You probably should know what you need before you go there as it is more like a warehouse store than a LFS. I LOVE the place.

bertoni - Thanks for the tip!

whiteshark - Hi! How often do you go there and what was the last thing you bought from them? =)

I go there when I can, maybe like every 2 or 3 weeks. last time I was there I got some tests, stuff I needed to restock. I also got a pulsing xenia, fireshrimp, electric scallop and a six spot goby. They have a guarentee on almost all of their livestock. I'm going to add a crocea clam too, as soon as I feel the water quality is as good as it can get. They have an AMAZING selection of livestock, aqauriums and everything you could ever need to start a SW tank and keep it running. Great prices too. I would find a LFS that could help you in an emergency situation, though.
