Just came back from week vacation and tested my water:
CA 500
KH 7.2
NO3 0.0
PH 8.1

I'm using a CA reactor and only dosting CA and MG occassionally. My KH has be very steady between 7.0 and 7.7 for the last 6 months. Any recommendations?

Check the calcium level for your salt mix .It may be high in calcium. Dose some baked baking soda to raise the alk, if you want it higher than 7.2 The calcium reactor will provide carbonate alkalinity and calcium in balanced proportions. When supplementing more use both alk and calcium in propotionate amounts, 50 ppm crabonate alk to about 20ppm calcium;standard two part dosing. For now I'd leave out the calcium until it drops ;it can take a while.

I agree that dosing a bit of alkalinity is a fine idea. Those levels are safe as is, so I wouldn't worry much. I agree that salt mixes are the usual source of such issues.
