Hippo tang & Ocellaries clown fighting?

Hey all.

I just added a new hippo tang and my ocellaries clown went right after it, nipping at it.

I had the same problem with the same clown and other hippo in my smaller 90 gal tang but now I have moved to a larger tank ( my old hippo didn't survive the move ) and the same thing?

I never know that a Ocellaries clown was so aggressive. He does nothing to the other fish I have in the tank Yellow tang, and flame angel. Just the hippo.

Don't know what to do. If he keeps it up the clown is gone.

Any help?

Dave

I am guessing it is an introduction issue, and will likely reduce and stop over time. in the meantime, you may be able to "contain" the clown in a small area or refugium tank until the ippo gets established, but otherwise, just weather the storm.

What's the size of your hippo and clowns? I recently introduce a hippo to my tank with a pair of clowns already there. The hippo is much bigger than those two clowns and they are doing well.

Looks like I overreacted. It's been 3 days now and the hippo & clown now get along. I just panicked because my first baby hippo went through the same thing.

It's all better now. Thanks for the info. I'll now take 2 breaths and hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

all better.
