hippo tangs

ThRoewer:

According to your tanks listed and the fish you have, The Angel fish are in about a 55 gallon tank. That is about 1/2 the recommended size for that fish. Why would you say a tang needs a thousand gallon tank? Just curious.

Because pretty much all tangs are very active swimmers that also like to sprint for a good stretch once in a while. This you can only give them in a tank with a sufficient surface area and volume.

Large angels and especially regal angels on the other hand are rather calm and need a lot of rock caves and crevices to patrol and hide. You can provide that easily in a smaller tank without them feeling crowded.
Also my regals are still babies with just 3 inch total length and will soon go into my new 100 gallon tank.

Just wait until "Finding Dory" hits the screens next summer. You will find lots of baby hippos in 20 to 40 gallon tanks, likely with some "Nemos" too.

One LFS here told me that hippos have already gone up in price and become harder to get. They expect the price to double and small ones to be in short supply.

Oh yeah, Solo the animator is ecstatic to see 'Finding Dory', Solo the fish guy is terrified  Prices may raise, more collection restrictions may result etc. etc. This is not at all Pixar's fault, it's just the way people are. A couple months after 'Beverly Hills Chihuahua' came out the shelters were buried to their eyeballs in unwanted chihuahuas, 'Rio' came out and everyone went out to buy parrots, the live action '101 Dalmatians' resulted in a massive spike in dalmatians in shelters... the list goes on and on and it's a human tendency to make thoughtless decisions in an attempt to keep up with the trends. I just hope we don't get hit too hard this time :debi:
