hitchhiker anemone

I have noticed an Anemone that is about the size of a shirt button.It is clear in color ,has white tips on its tentacles and a red body.Seems to be bigger at night ,maybe the size of a dime.It doesn't seem to have grown in the 4 months that I've been watching it. Anyone have an idea what type of anemone it could be.I know it is not aiptasia. I will post a pics as soon as it opens.Thanks

Any small anemone usually means trouble. I always remove any small anemones I see right away so they dont have time to spread. I would suggest the same to you.

Are you sure it's an anemone? Looks almost like a baby Torch.

i'm no expert but doesn't look like an anemone to me... all anemone's i've seen have longer tentacles than that... those look like they could be bumps on a mushroom/ricordia or something (zoo?!?!). might want to do an image search on other types of corals? :strange:

A better pic would probably help...I doubt it would be a torch, baby torches dont just pop up unless you get really lucky.

It looks like a strawberry anemone, not really an anemone, more in the mushroom family (corallamorph something like that - now you understand why I just tried to say mushroom)
They will divide, but ours never got to the pest level, they're low light, low maintenance. You may get some websites with good pics and some info by google-ing strawberry anemone.

It's probably a corynactis or pseudocorynactis. Not a problem. The white-ball tentacle tips are really indicative of this type of corallimorph.

Usually the most notable difference between the two is size, one being quite a bit bigger than the other, unfortunately, I can't remember which is which, but do a search on the internet for them and you'll find them.
