Sheesh. Okay, so I am tinkering around with putting an HOB on my Oceanic BC 14g. Yes, an all-in-one; thus, the "sheesh" factor because I have to figure out exactly how to rig this thing up. I am considering a custom in the event I can't figure out how to use a pre-made while keeping the hood. So, here are some questions I've been wondering about:
Do all HOB fuges work w/gravity? Does anyone use a return pump? Since I have the hood (w/hinges that I'd like to keep in tact, if possible), I was thinking that if the whole fuge including light height (saw a possibility on nanotuners.com) was less than 14", I could still keep my hood and mod it - basically using my Dremel to expand some openings to accommodate return hoses to/from the fuge. I have a NC12 skimmer in chamber #2 that could either stay there or move to the fuge (also depends on height as the hood might hit it when open). I was thinking it would also be a possibility to move all of my peripheral equipment like thermometer, probes, float switch, etc. to a section in the fuge as an alternative. I can accommodate 14w x 4d x ?h (dependent on light). I'd place a small pump in chamber #1 going to the fuge and assume another at the end of the fuge going back into chamber #3 of the tank.
Any suggestions? Anyone out there put an HOB on an all-in-one? Oh, and I already know that I could make chamber #2 a fuge but I want to keep the skimmer so that's out.
