holes in my streams

upon cleaning my stream pumps i noticed that in the box portion of the pump there appears to have developed a small crack/hole near the seams (on both pumps).
i obviously don't want to place them back in the tank now for safety reasons. is this something anyone else has reported to you? i bought them almost a year ago and they've been working perfectly ... have you experienced this?
thanks as always for your help

Do you have pictures? The only other report of this was someone who had never noticed the seams and vent holes which the pump is made with, I don't see any way that the pump could have cracked.

thanks Roger for your quick response ...
i really don't see how this could happen either which is why I was so surprised.
should i email pictures to you directly?

i guess you'd better make that two then. I read what you wrote about the vent holes and so took another look. Once I scraped away some of the calcium deposits which made them look jagged, I finally realized that both pumps had the same exact hole cut very smoothly.
Sorry for my stupidity. The pumps are great BTW!!

I think they are just the holes that let the air out of the pump casting. Their is a very small void space and the air has to be let out, most brands of pumps have such holes. The actual motor is sealed in polyurethane inside the housing and that is what waterproofs it.
