Yes and no. They refer to the middle of the chamber as being 6000 degrees Kelvin and that converted would be precisely 5726.85 C. or similar to the sun surface at which is approx 5,778 K.
(0 K = −273.15 °C and 273.16 K = 0.01 °C)

And yes this can be correlated to a point source actual temperature expressed as C, F or K. It also can and will relate to the actual frequency of light expressed as degrees K.


For the benefit of people concerned with “Heat”. I was referring to what one could expect as the actual heat generated in usage.

Heat expressed in physics, is energy transferred from one body or system to another due to a difference in temperature. The unit for the rate of heat transfer is the watt. Heat transfer is a path function (process quantity), as opposed to a point function (state quantity).


If you look at the lamp operating application notes. You will find that the “thermal simulation assuming a maximum ambient or fan inlet temperature of 55 degrees C shows that the junction temperature does not exceed 135 C".

that bulb is awesome......I was wondering if anyone knew if it and/or other bulbs used filtered UV rays.....I saw in a national geographic that filtered uv rays help the color of the coral really "pop" sorry if this is a stupid question

Trust me guy's & gal's "IF" it will work in any way for this hobby, Somebody will jump on it and make it avilable to us. It will be more expencsive than most of us can afford for a while and then come down in price. LED's have been out for years and there now making their way to us, so you can bet this will too. In 30 years from now I'll have enough cash to buy one :lol:
