Holy Crap

One of the ballasts in my 48'' Current Outer Orbit failed and it cost me $90 plus shipping to get a new one...the whole fixture only cost me 5 hundredish including 2 130w pc's and 2 150w hqi's. This doesn't seem to add up right to me. Anyone else feel my pain?

im guessing that your unit is just over 1 year old ..??? seems to be alot of that going around.

That stinks. If it was the PC ballast you can get a generic replacement dirt cheap from ballastwise.com. I looked into repairing an old currentusa fixture and they wanted FIVE times the money for an identical performance ballast.

Yeah, lighting is a lot like cars. Building them from parts isn't always cheaper than just buying the whole thing new :(

Check hellolights.com for cheap parts too.

All-in-one fixtures can be tricky, but if the ballasts are remote, you can replace it with whatever equivalent piece you want.
