Here is my tank. I started a thread in reef discussion instead of putting it in this thread accidentally. So, if the mods want to delete that posting that would be great. Thanks.

OMG I am SO glad to see that this thread is still alive and kicking after so many years... I have just gotten back into the salt water side (as of yesterday) and thought I'd come back to see how things were going... Can't wait to post pic's of my new set up once the fish are in and settled in..

Since posting last (oh so long ago) I had to tear down the 150 reef after a power outage and a blown pump sent about 50 gallons of salt water into my family room.. wife was not happy and we had to replace the carpeting.. I went back to fresh water after that with no more sump system. Just recently I came across a deal I could nort pass up:

Complete 110 gal. Oceanic salt set up for $300.00.. Here is what came with it:

Tank, stand, over 100lbs. live rock, sand (also 100lbs.) custom built sump system with pumps.. 1 Picaso Trigger, 1 Naso Tang, 1 Butterfly, 1 Sailfin Blenny, and 1 Damselfish... The owner also through in salt mix, and several chemicals and food.. This was a deal too good to pass up.

I've got the tank running now and the fish should be going in shortly.. I wanted to get them in within 24 hours and since everything was already cycled in, it should not be a problem.. I did not get lighting so I added a marinland reef ready system with LED (10k and actinic blue) also running a side filter and a Sea Clone external protien skimmer.. I will post videos when it's a bit clearer and settled down....

I know it'a not a video ...

I know it'a not a video ...

No videos yet but I thought I'd post a few pics of the new 110gal FOWLR tank next to the 150gal FW tank. I had just gotten through putting my hands in the SW tank so the fish were spooked and hiding but for the Butterfly..

Beautiful colonies and a your tangs look very happy. May I ask what size tank that is? Do they have something to graze on all day to reduce aggression? How many times a day do you feed the tangs/corals?

Of course.
My aquarium is 375 litres (cc. 94 gal). Daily 2x get to eat the fish. A flakes mix. I have the oldest fish since 1998 (Paracanthurus hepatus). The youngest fish since 2009 (Acanthurus sohal).
The arrangement of the rocks reduces the aggression. The rocks are on a rack, which insures many lairs,.

My videos 1998-2013.

That is so cool! (Pardon the pun.) I've never heard of anyone setting up a cold reef. Is there a growing market for this?

Robert,

Awesome awesome tank!!! Where do you purchase most of your livestock? As I live in Citrus Heights. Why do you go skimmer less and what is the advantage of that?
