Hooking up osmolator tubing to 1/4" polypropylene tubing and John Guest fittings

Hello Roger,

I have a Precision Marine kalkwater reactor that I am using for the output of my Osmolator auto-topoff system.

The fittings on the kalkreactor are 1/4" John Guest speedfit fittings. The Osmolator tubing seems just a little bit larger, it must be metric sizing.

I have it hooked up for now by using the brute force method to jam the improperly sized tubing into the fitting. But I am sure one of these days it will pop off and cause a leak, so I would like to hook it up properly.

What type of attachment or fitting do I need?

I don't know if it is possible to convert from metric to imperial tubing but the osmolator uses 7mm od tubing, 4mm id.

I am using 1/4" RO tubing which is connected to my Osmolator pump with no problems. Why not try changing the Osmolator tube to RO tube like this?

OK makes sense, I have the RO tubing. I just find that it is more rigid and "flops" into positions I don't want it in, this is only a factor for the output of the auto-topoff which goes into my sump, I want the tubing to stay in place.

I would probably be possible to heat the tubing with a lighter and force the polypropylene into the hole in the tubing and then secure it with a zip tie.
