Ok how many of you guys stayed home yesterday or today to hook up your new chiller? I plan to run mine off one of my drain lines to my sump. I spent most of the morning plannig how to redo my sump, now that I have my new chiller. This new sump arrangment will incorporate a lot of information I have learned in the last 2 years.
Phatphisher thanks for organizing the buy! Well done!

I'd be really interested to see how everyone is integrating their chillers into their overal plumbing design.

Please post pictures or diagrams!

Many thanks,
Jeff

I have not picked mine up yet but already have plans of how I will incorporate it into my sump since I have my tank near an outside wall I am planning on putting a second pump in the return side of my sump which will feed only the chiller this will then be plumbed directly into the return line to my display tank I will then cut a hole in my wall and mount a vent leading out onto my patio this is where warm exhaust air from the chiller will be vented rather than into the house.

Is your patio fully enclosed? The chiller needs to be kept out of the elements (direct sunlight would suck for the chiller and moisture would be bad for it as well). You're the second person I hear running the chiller outside the house. I think Steve is doing something similar...he mentioned housing it in a dog house.

He isnt going to put the chiller outside....re-read his post....He is going to cut a hole in the wall for a vent so the hot air from the chiller goes right outside

I'd just to re-iterate that Sven gets MAJOR props and everyone who participated should be doing the same. Sven went to a lot of trouble to get this thing done and he definitely got it done. Even dropped it off to me on his way home Friday. Give it up for Sven.

Absolutely! Three cheers!

Grayfis1 and phatphisher,

Thank you for all the hard work you did for this chiller deal.
With this hot weather, my coral and fish thank you.

And a special thank you for laverda for letting me pick my chiller
close to home.

I finally had the chance to hook up my chiller this weekend.

Here is the order I hooked up my chiller.

mag 12 in sump --> chiller --> return to tank.

I set the temp to 79 so it should not go over 80 anymore.

Hey I am having a hard time putting the included elbows and connecting them onto the chiller. My chiller doesn't include the "cork things" that you're supposed to remove. It seems like the elbows I received are too small.

yoyoyoo123,

The plugs that you removed from the holes has a black rubber
gasket attached. Please check the plugs that you removed.

Thanks for setting up the group buy! Picked up my chiller today. Thanks Laverda for picking it up for me.

Thanks,

Shane

Unscrew the tops, then twist the black rubber parts. When they come out, then you take the "corks" out. They're not really made of cork. They're plastic.

ok i'll give it a go when I get back home in a few days, when you say "twist the black rubber parts"do you mean the bottom nut, am I supposed to loosen and remove it?

I know this sounds crazy, but I swear setting up my 1/10 JBJ chiller was no problem.

Now, when I take off the top nut on my 1/5th , there is no rubber cork thing inside, it looks like black tubing (the same size as the elbow tubing) is already sticking out. And since it's the same size as the pipe I want to insert, it's not connecting...

Remove the bottom nuts first, then underneath that there are these rubber thingies...kinda hard, but twist em and they'll come out. Those plastics tubings inside are the "corks". On one end there's an opening and the other ends are closed off.
