How am I doing?

So I've been reading stickied articles and such trying to learn about photography for my tank. Here's my favorite shot so far. Any constructive criticism, advice, and feedback is appreciated. I hope you like it. This isn't using a macro lens, just the telephoto lens that came in the kit.

That's actually quite good. Nice depth of field, good contrast, good composition and overall a very good photo, especially given the relative difficulty of aquarium photography. Really, the only nitpicky thing I have to point out is a tiny white speck on the left side of the image that could be fixed with the Photoshop healing brush in about half a second.

Lol, I didn't even notice it. If I had photoshop, I think I'd do that. Sadly, I don't. I stopped bootlegging software a couple of years ago. Glad you like it though.

You can look to Photoshop Elements that normally runs about 90 bucks or 70 bucks when on sale. Lightroom is also an option though a little more money. I removed the spot, and just did an auto levels on it. Doing this with a jpeg image isn't as good as working with a RAW image, but you can see, post cam make the shot quite a bit better.

Wow, that looks incredibly better. I think you just sold me. Between getting a macro lens and software I'm racking up quite a shopping list. But the first thing I need to purchase is a tripod. Unless my equatorial mount tripod for my telescope would work. Although I doubt my corals are doing much diurnal motion. Lol.

I use PhotoImpact Pro @ $80, which does a lot of the same stuff.
2 clicks for this.

Very nice as well.

I wonder how nice the image could have been if y'all had the RAW format to work with. Or if I used a macro lens. Or a tripod.

Thanks for all the feedback!
