How did you convince your spouse to wash filter socks on washing machine

Hi, I'm learning about the filter socks that need to be replaced about twice a week and washed in a washing machine before placing them back in.
So how did you convince your spouse or the significant other to allow you to wash filter socks with fish poo in the washing machine?

I rolled her good clothes in dog poo.

It was either throw them out or wash them.

She washed them and everything was fine.

Fish poo was no big deal after that.

Only in a house with no kids could this ever be a point of discussion :) Fish poo wasnt the first poo to go in our washing machine.

Using the household items for reefing is a strict a no no in my home.. I will be in some trouble when I get caught with the filter socks washing :-) Looks like it isn't a big deal with others ..

Wov Congratulations mcgyvr !!

Thanks.. He was born Dec 26th so if we made it this long without having a blowout I guess that does deserve a congrats :)

Back to your question..
When I use a filter sock (maintenance only and rarely if that) I always just rinse it out well in the sink under the faucet then hang it to dry outside..

I have about ten filter socks and I throw my dirty socks in a 5 gallon bucket 3/4 full of water and a cup of bleach. By the time it's full the socks look almost clean. My wife will on occasion complain about the bleach smell when I do throw them in the washer.

Yeah in all seriousness with the amount of human poo that has gone through our washing machine, fish poo is the least concern.

+1

My wife enjoys the tank, it's a need. She will on occasion, like thegrun's wife, complain about the bleach when I do wash them.

Does this officially make this a poo thread? :wavehand:

Wife said "It's the tank or me!"

I sure am gonna miss the way she use to cook and clean!

But seriously... I ditched the felt socks in favor of nylon mesh.
200 micron felt is pretty much equal to 100 micron nylon mesh.
Super easy to clean under running tap water. Much easier to turn inside out.
Much easier to remove/install.
I have (2) sets of (2). Clean one set while the other is being used. No more washing machine, no more bleach.
The best part is because they are so easy to use and clean, I find myself doing it a lot more often.

Now to find a millionaire nymphomaniac who owns both a liquor store and reef shop!

My Chinese spouse would kill me if I ever put the filter sock into the washing machine hahaha.

Im currently giving the socks to our personal cleaner which wash them by hands using dedicated kitchen gloves :fun2:
