How do you feed your melanarus wrasse?

Hey everyone. I have had melanarus Wrasse for over 3 months now. My biggest issue is his sleep schedule. He is so systemically programmed that I would swear he was reading my wall clock. Up by 6am, and gone by 4pm. He is some how still fat as the day I bought him. I have never been able to feed him 2-3 times a day as others do. I usually feed my tank once every 2 days with mysis and Seaweed. And he is generally never available due to his sleep schedule. Keep in mind my lights don't go out to blues until 7pm.

So in short, what in the world is he eating? He only eats about maybe twice a week because by the time I get back from work, he is obviously in the sand bed. Any tips would be appreciated as I'm stumped lol

Mine is close to the same size, I only see mine eat 1 time a day even though I feed 3 or more... Up by 10am and down by 4 or 5 (or at least not out to where I see him) I see him eating pods when not eating frozen so i would think yours does the same? One of 2 fish in my 220g

Wow, Vrolik's (close relative to melanarus) gets up about 11 (when the blues come on) and goes to be about 9:30 (just after the whites go out). The H. chrysus is the one that goes to bed early...usually around 8-8:30. Weird how regimented they can be.

Mine is up before me as sun lights up the south facing room and it goes to sleep when the lights drop off from 14k to a blue transition. It eats anything I put in and hunts constantly.

Mine wakes up around 9 and 30 seconds after light out (around 9pm) he darts into the sand for his night cap. VERY good eater and love when he comes up to the glass side ways looking at me.

Mine gets the benefit of multiple daily feedings for the anthias in the tank, and he goes after anything (R.O.E., Mysis, pellets, flakes...Formula 1 flakes are his favorite; he goes berserk for them). When he's not feeding on food in the water column, he's constantly hunting. He also loves to watch me watch the tank; he's my favorite fish by far.

If he's fat, he sounds fine. Most likely living off of hunting.

Thanks everyone for the input. I guess I will have to get use to his routine or get up as early as he does. If he happy I'm happy lol

the only time mine hides is when my hands are in the tank. he comes out as soon as the actinics come on. he eats everything including nori. I feed once per day and hang nori every day. he makes me laugh as he swims around and around the powerhead.

Damn.. My Melanurus is about the same size and is out as long as the lights are on (12 hour photo period) and eats every time food goes in the tank which is a few times a day. He is super fat and a very aggressive eater. I've had it for about a year. I have several other wrasses too including a pair of 6 lines, a leopard, a couple fairy wrasses and I forgot what else but they are all on the same schedule.
