how does the Tunze overflow work?

I may get one to replace my other syphon overflow. I think thats what the top one is.

Your link didn't work but I assume you mean 1074/2? It works just like standard hang on overflow but it also has a bottom intake. Flow stops when the water drops below the surface skimmer though. It can only handle about 400gph, they are very quiet.
