how in the hell do you get a good full tank shot?

cant figure this out for the life of me. camera is not the best but have gotten decent closeups. maybe the "lines" from the halides are messing it up.. should I turn off the powerheads or should these be a nonissue.

btw... tank is doin good and I gotta rabbitfish and a CBB which is a complete HOG for mysid. All corals and frags are doing well from the last meet. The neon green millie and pink pocci (zooqi) are doing especially awesome!
 
Turn off all the other lights in the room. Put a black background behind the tank. A black towel works well. Either position the tank lights so they don't light up the back of the glass or hang a baffle behind the lights, it could be cardboard. Turn off the pumps. Take a picture with no flash. Your now a photographer.
