how is this skimmer for a 200g tank w 55g sump-refugium? ASM G-4X Protein Skimmer

I am using an ASM G4+ on my new 240 gallon tank and it is working great. I am sure that there are better skimmers on the market but for the cost it does a nice job. I would look for a used one as I found my that way and got a real nice deal

I had that one on my 265 reef. Nice skimmer for the money. You need to do the gate valve mod. on it to get the best performance from it. I thought the slide tube outlet was useless. Just my oppinion. Also, if you havnt bough it yet, check out www.petsolutions.com Its about $20 more but they have free shipping on all orders over $100. It may end up saving you a couple of bucks in the end. And, you can tell the wife your saving us money by placing one order because of the free shipping. :beer:

Used this skimmer on my 120g display / 240g system with a pretty heavy load.

Definitly needs the gate mod, I also swapped a Mesh Modded Sicci in and it really cranked up the performance and dropped the wattage a bunch.

Hi all, don't mean do hijack, but I'm planning my first upgrade (55 to a 250) and I'm trying to nail down what equipment I want so that I can plan the custom sump.

.. can you explain what you mean by gate mod for this skimmer.
