my female clown unfortunately passed away a couple days ago. and i want to get the male another mate. but now i don't know how long it'll take for the male to turn into female, since he's all alone in the tank. so im just wondering if i can just go get another female clown. thanks

Not sure of the duration of time for a sex change, but it may be easier to grab a larger clown than the one that is left, and if it was in a tank with other clowns, and if it's the largest, then your probably in luck. But if you want to go smaller, it may require more time for a breed, but they will still pair.

heres the new female clown i got

i believe this is a wild caught clown. so im just treating him with some basic medications

hm, hey guys. should i still add the female clown into the main tank? i am 100% sure that the clown in the tank is a male, and am 100% sure that the new clown is a female.
however, the male has been in the tank for about 2 weeks. is it possible for it to change sex already? thanks

hehe, this true perc pair is gonna be housed in a recently set up biocube! i hope i can breed them in the future.
i have a tomato pair in the 46, but they don't seem like they are ever gonna breed :(

Tomatoes are considered easier to breed than ocellarises, so I wouldn't quite say that. I personally have a pair thats breeding, I basically casted them aside for a couple of better ocellarises, didn't do anything to help them spawn (Like raise tank temp or increase light cycle), and they didn't even look like they wanted to spawn, and guess what, I have eggs, and hopefully a hatch tonite! Check the Tomatoes to see if the female has an unusually large belly and the pair has staked out a cave or someplace to call their own, usually a good starting sign.
