aprox. current schedule (EDST)

aprox. current schedule (EDST)

actinics 8AM- 8:30 PM
halides 9AM -7PM

I've always run halides for about 10 hrs./ day

I voted 8. I've run them for 10 hours before in the past with no noticeable difference. I went down to 8 hours and have them scheduled to be on while I'm home in the evening.

lets see.. on the 60 cube sps tank

T5's on at 10am
150w 20k on 1pm
T'5's off 8pm
150w 20k off 10pm
LED/blue night's on 10pm
Led/blue nights off 2am

my T5's are 4 bulbs that vary the spectrum

my sps seem to like this lighting mix..

My actinic is on from 8:30-10:30+depending if I'm still staring at it; I usually am so I'll flip it back on till 11:30 or so)
I'm still on my summer mh schedule 10hrs 6/4/4 on/off/on, I will be switching back to 6/2/4 so soon as I feel like playing with all 82 pins.

Are you simulating clouds?

Not really, though I read a long time ago that a rest period may somehow be better for photosynthesis/sugar conversion process, which made some sense to me. I lived for a few years on an island in the tropics, and I will say that yes there are a few cloudy days, but the actual amount of shade any given area receives most days is very small. Further, being there is virtually a 12 hr day with the sun more or less directly overhead every day, the sun doesn't linger long; it comes up and sets quickly. That said, my light schedule is much more about temperature control.
