how many people keeping freshwater

Got any photos thinking about starting one up. is there a good forum for stuff like rc or a club like urs

My old 90 reef tank is currently a planted with Co2 atomizer and planted tank is the best in my opinion

I used to keep multiple freshwater tanks then I got into saltwater. I ran out of room and time so I decided to just do saltwater.

I have a 55g african cichlid tank. Actually looking to rehome a few of those fish. 2 giraffee (venestus), believe its a male and female, but theyre not breeding. Also have a bumblebee(ps.crabro) and a common pleco. I have tried using plants, but they usually rip them up. I am looking to rehome these guys because I have a pair of breeding red jewels and the other fish are killing the fry before they can grow up. If anyone is interested let me know Im not looking to get any money, rather know theyre going to a good home. Im in syracuse,ny

I have been running my reef for around 10 years and with kids and well life in general I just dont have the time I used to have so I am thinking about doing a planted tank at least for a while that is till kids grow up a bit. SO needless to say if anyone wants some saltwater stuff for trade for fw or just has nice fw stuff let me know. I plan to set up a 65 gallon tank going to need a light I have a 6 bulb t5 but its going to be overkill for this nut sure about running a sump seems kind of like a waste. I think i would rather just run a nice canister filter

I had planted FW tanks for a few years but don't have any now. At one point I had completely switched from reefing to planted FW for just the reasons you list. Even a "high end" planted FW tank is probably going to be cheaper and easier to run than a full blown reef. Time spent on maintenance is really what you make of it though.

Planted FW tanks typically have the opposite problems as reef tanks, so it requires some adjustment to your thinking. Most people don't use sumps because the extra agitation of the water causes a loss of CO2, which you need to try to keep in the system (most people dose CO2, agitating the water just drives off what you're trying to dose). Also, most people are dosing the very nutrients you're trying to get rid of in a reef, like N and P.

plantedtank.net is a good forum but I like aquaticplantcentral.com too.

Are you going to keep your 210g reef running? A 210g planted tank would be pretty awesome...

Originally I was going planted but got a deal on my reef. Love the reef tank but thinking of going to a planted when I remodel the room with the tank. Planted are more calming and its in a sitting/tv room. Also I can reclaim some space in my small basement and maybe lower my maintenance.

I'd take pics but am in need of a trim....will sell it as a complete system for $600 if your interested Jeff

More than once I have pondered turning my 360g into a planted FW tank. BIG planted tanks are teh awesum:
