how many shrimp?

Hello
I have recently been looking into getting certain shrimp for my 46 g and thought fire shrimp seemed best.
I was thinking maybe getting multiple shrimp atleast 4+ is this a good idea? There's a lot of space and no dangerous fish. Will they be fine with eachother and more importantly have enough space?

Also just wondering if they have any undesireable behaviors?

Thanks!

most shrimp can live together as long as their is enough space and hiding places. I would watch out for coral bandit shrimp which can be very very aggresive towards cleaner shrimp especially during feeding time. if you just have to have one try to make sure he is smaller then the rest.

Okay well I plan to only get fire shrimp for now. Can you add them at different times? I think ill start low and add based on how many mor will be okay with the amount of space. Thanks!

Just another question..
I'm researching more about these guys and finding conflicting info.
Some sites say only a pair can be kept and will act agressivly with others of their species. Others say they like groups. Which is true?

I'v haven't seen more then one kept together, but that doesn't mean it can be done. I wouldn't put four in a 46g, that just don't seem like a good idea IMO. But I love the crested pic! I have three, two are a mated pair.

Hmm well I'd love to keep a small group of them if possible they look amazing!
I've seen them in the stores in groups and there doesnt seem to be any problem, could it be that when they form mated pairs agression occurs? I've had many more shrimp in the past in my 46 and they seemed fine so i think I'll try it out :)

and haha thats cool! ive been noticing alot of reefers here also have crested geckos/some sort of reptile. I've only got one though but selling him unfortunately :/ too much work along with the reef and i need the money

My lfs has basically a shrimp tank. It's a 20high and he's got pepermints, sexys, pistols, cleaners, and fireshrimp. It's really a cool tank. He's also got a bunch of gobys and smaller fish in the tank. I wouldn't think you would have any trouble having a shrimp tank like that. But I do agree with above, I wouldn't put a CBS in there

plus most cleaner type shrimp are EXTREMELY easy to remove from the tank if need be. Just put your hand in and when they start to clean it just close your hand and scoop them out. Simple and effective.

Haha okay than I'll go for it than for sure :D It'll be my christmas gift lol. I kind of just want my tank to be completely for shrimp would I be going overboard if I got more then 4 shrimp?

Lol yes I used to be obsessed with shrimp and had an even more crowded tank before I moved on. And I'm not sure where the CBS came from lol I never said I'd be getting one but thanks anyways for the help guys! I'll update if anything goes wrong once i get them

i think youll be fine, i have noticed that of the cleaners tend to do well together like fire, skunk, and peps but other shrimp with them like CBS tend not to do well. just make sure you add from sizes, small to largest because the larg ones tend to be territorial when added. i added 3 pepps in with my huge 1 skunk and he killed 1 before he learned they werent a threat (29gal)

Okay well I got my first shrimp a week or two ago, he has barely coming out like i feared. Is there any way to make them more comfortable? I plan on getting more perhaps they will make it more active. Or maybe a skunk cleaner as well sine they are active daily?

Fireshrimps tend to like the dark. They'll spend most of the daylight in their cave. Cool looking but defintetly not out in the open as much as other shrimp species.
