How many tanks do you have?

I only have three right now but just a few months ago I was up to 8. I keep some fresh and some marine, right now 2 marine and one fresh/planted.

bad timing for me cause i had a bunch but wanted to downsize so i could get my living room back . i now have 7 saltwater tanks and four food prop tanks . a few months ago i had 17 tanks but now i have a garage full of plumbing ,stands, pumps, and lights .its an addiction to say the least as now i have space in my living room and instead of filling it with furniture I'm planning a 350 gallon tank and a 92 corner setting right next to it . i dont know why but who needs furniture anyway . i will use my wife's living room if i need to lay on a couch i guess ,at least for now .

I spend about an hour before work in the morning & 1-2 hours in the evening & all day Fri.,Sat.,& Sun. It's a part time business.

So you must be the guy I've heard about that breeds and sells clown fish to the local fish stores!

If you are I've got 2 of yours in my tank now and they're doing awesome. :D

Well I had to start counting. 1 240 gal reef, 60 gal seahorse, 56 tanks set up for breeders & grow out of clown fish, seahorses, & dottybacks. 14 tanks & buckets of cultures. So it looks 72 up & running.

Your insane. But thanks for the regular stew the tank loves it.

I sold 1 so down to 1 150g

Yes I am the one who sells to most of the LFS. It would be another animal hoarding show if I kept them all.

Currently I have 1 DT and some rubbermaid QT's
thats plenty enough for me. :)

In the past I have had multiple tanks, with getting progessively larger tanks over time.
At most, I think I had 2 55's a 30 and a 29 going in a 1 br apt.

Planted tanks, SA cichlids, African cichlids, native fishes, reef... been there done that.

For a short time I had 2 reef systems going, the 110 and a 60 gallon shallow that I picked up from someone needing to move fast. Completely independent systems. I found that keeping 2 reef tanks equalled 2x as much work as just one tank, rather than piggybacking some of the time, labor and costs. Hence neither tank looked "great", just OK. Started to defeat the purpose of having a reef. The tanks arent my only hobby and they arent 1st in line of the hobbies either.

Quantity wasnt a substitute for quality. I took down the 2nd reef and sold it all off. Now I can focus on the 110, and the 110 only.

If I were going to get a second tank again, I would just keep it simple and set up another African cichlid tank, and basically 'scape up a freshwater reef. Really get a great "bang for the buck" for time and money spent, with how beautiful and easy some of the African Rift lake fishes are.

I currently have four tanks a 240 mixed reef a 30 gallon hex a 60 gallon that is a fuge for now and a 5 gallon that is my LED acro experiment
